Fall 2009 Haitian Bazaar & Craft Sale

Benefiting the Clean Water Project in Haiti

Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville

The Fall Bazaar
at the Church Street United Methodist Church on October 23, 2009 was a great success by any measure. It was really amazing to see what highly energetic and creative volunteers can do! Over $10,000 was raised for the purchase of water filtration systems in the village of Boucan-Carré, Haiti which is a joint project of the Church Street United Methodist Church and the Haiti Outreach Program sponsored by Sacred Heart Parish in Knoxville.

Visitors were greeted with the fragrance of hot spiced pumpkin soup served as part of a gourmet lunch prepared by church members. Hundreds of people enjoyed early holiday shopping for beautiful handcrafted items made by the women of the Church as well as crafts made by Haitians from the village of Boucan-Carré.

Many Fall Bazaar visitors also watched a slide show presentation concerning the public health risks in Haiti created by contaminated water. They observed a working model of the water filtration system that will soon be installed in the hospital in Boucan-Carré. The hospital is one of many projects supported by the Haiti Outreach Program and its partners.

The level of commitment demonstrated by the volunteers of the Church Street UMC is inspirational. We at Haiti Outreach Program send heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our newest partners!
