EducationOf Haiti's 8.7 million people, almost half are illiterate. The literacy rate of 52.9% is the lowest in the region. About 90% of Haiti’s 15,200 primary schools are non-public and managed by the communities, religious organizations or NGOs. The enrollment rate for primary school is 67% — with less than 30% reaching 6th grade. Secondary schools enroll 20% of eligible-age children.

Currently, a school building is being rented for the classes at our secondary school. We are now raising funds to build a new school that will meet the needs of older students and their teachers.  Read More

Adopt-A-Student

Our Adopt A Student program allows you to commit $100/child/year to ensure that a St. Michels child gets a hot meal and vitamin each day, a uniform and educational supplies. The donations also support teacher salaries. You can also write letters of encouragement and send care packages to your adopted student!
